Bodily Knowing: Emergence

A wise woman has always said to me, allow life to speak to you and see what comes next. Pause, make space, and ground. Once the next door appears, step in and follow.

Life is a series of doors and steps. Opening one door closes all other doors. A closed door creates space for a new door. What isn’t working is just as important as a signal. How do we know which door to choose?

In tango, when we make a pivot with the foot, a pause follows. The pause is used to listen deeply and attune to the body. Every step taken calls for a re-centering, to assure we are grounded on the path before we move forward.

The wise woman urged me to have patience with the questions in my heart, to not grasp to escape from the pain of uncertainty. When the next step presents itself, the body knows and lights up. Take courage and walk through.
